On the 24th day of Spring...

A memories quilt
Made for Mum and Dad many years ago, it now hangs in her bedroom
Mum's mother ~ we never knew her.  We all have her little round face :)
Mum's father ~ once a school teacher and administrator on Poid Island, they were living there when Mum was born
Dad and his parents ~ living the simple life on a banana farm in Austinville settlement in the Gold Coast hinterland.  It's long gone.... the families moved out and the rainforests moved back in
It's a little dusty and the quilting is bad ... but it has a special memory for Mum :)

On the eleventh day of Spring...

Sometimes - when a planned quilt doesn't go according to plan - it becomes a big pillow
I loved the idea of a big feathered star quilt... but I was over it by the time I'd done one 20" block
Now I love it as a big pillow

these two totally gorgeous little cot quilts were designed and made by Cath at Willow Valley Store
Beautifully made, the 'Sleep Little Baby' stitching is deliciously perfect :)
Cath designed these little lovelies for Fresh Hope
Her blog is always a fun read... loads of vintage stuff to 'ooh' over and the lots of little bunnies... just scroll a bit to find the photos and make sure you check out March 2009 ~ cutest little baby bunnies ever!

On the eighth day of Spring...

My first sampler quilt... made for Blossie when she was about 12 years old.  The maroon and dark green fabrics have glitter sparkling all over them, imagine that!
I still love this block :)
There are lots of  'oops' moments in this quilt... and I'm remaking it using gentle and shabby country prints ~ but that's a loooong term project
Seeya tomorrow for more Spring niceness :)

Keeping company with little puss cats that like to hang around in linen cupboards :)

On the fifth day of Spring...

Narelle's quilt made using the 'X' block ruler ~ clever use of the offcut bits for the pieced border
I have another two of these interesting quilts to finish for customers and will show those in a week or so...

Seeya tomorrow for more Spring niceness :)

On the fourth day of Spring...

Deborah's quilt ~ hanging around on the front verandah...
Deb's amazing, she takes a pile of fabrics, her patchwork tools and sewing machine and creates.  No pattern, just an open mind and lots of agreeable 'mmmm, I like that....' moments
I hope you like that too :)

On the third day of Spring...

this is Mum's quilt... I made it about 6 years ago and it stays folded in her cupboard.  'It's too beautiful to use, I don't want it get marked'....

Quilted on my little Janome, I now know it needs more background and border quilting so it's at my house
~ It's about to do some clever things ~
Seeya tomorrow for some more Spring niceness :)

Seeya tomorrow for more Spring niceness :)
